Beaches-in-the-Dominican-Republic, of which there is over 25 miles, is some of the best white sand in the whole Caribbean. The Punta-Cana-Beaches are the largest of the Dominican-Republic-Beaches.
Most of the beaches are accessible to everyone; however, the ones that are not developed have some very strong currents so be very careful where you swim.
We have been to many of the beaches on the Island. We have enjoyed each and every one of them. The beaches we haven’t been to we have done some very intense research on. Most of the research has come from folks that visit our site and tell us about their experience.
Below you will find some overviews of many of the beaches that the Dominican Republic has to offer.
I will make one suggestion; if you are going to swim at any of the beaches you should first purchase a pair of deck/surf shoes. These are rubber; tight fitting shoes that will help you cope with the ruff bottoms when you venture into the water. They are not expensive and you will be glad you have them.
This is an isolated stretch of Dominican-Republic-Beaches that goes for miles in either direction. This is one of those undeveloped beaches. Be careful, some sections are a little pebbly. However, if you have the rubber shoe we told you about on the Dominican Republic Beaches page you will be fine.
There are beach shacks nearby where you can have some very good fish to eat. And there is always some libation handy for your drinking pleasure.
If you are staying in Santo Domingo this is the closest decent beach for you. It’s very busy on the weekends so go during the week... The locals flock there on the weekends.
This is a beautiful stretch of beach however, you will see some places that are cluttered with plastic furniture, cottages and pizza stands.
Grab yourself a picnic lunch and just come hang out and enjoy the beach. There are some clubs and restaurants nearby for your drinking pleasure.
Beaches-in-the-Dominican-Republic are great in the Cabarete area. The wind is perfect for windsurfing. Drive up the coastal road from Playa Dorada to find this exciting beach.
The younger set finds this beach to be their paradise. The commercial areas are filled with restaurants and bars that go all the way down to the beach itself.
Watching the younger generation enjoy life on the Dominican-Republic-Beaches is one of our favorite things to do. On our visit here, we iced down a cooler and watched as the windsurfers did their thing. It was a very exhilarating day.

Playa Dorada
As far as Dominican Republic beach resorts are concerned this area has some of the best. Being on the North Coast the winds are also good for windsurfing. The Beaches-in-the-Dominican-Republic are just fine in this area.
Each resort features its own beach front area. Plenty of snorkeling is available. Waterskiing and fishing are also very good in this area of the Dominican-Republic-Beaches.
This North Coast area beach is in the construction faze. If you want to see this beach as it is you better go now.
The beach is in a cove with rocky cliffs on each side. They say that you don’t want to swim there in the winter months. The currents are to strong and the sea is rough.
There are some shacks on the beach that have great fresh fish and the beer is always cold. The shacks on all the Dominican-Republic-Beaches always serve fresh fish.
You will want to come here during the week, that is, unless you like crowds.
This stretch of beautiful beach is on the North Coast of the Samana Peninsula. The scenery will absolutely blow you away, with the beautiful blues, greens and yellows.
If you visit between January and April you will be able to enjoy some whale watching. Wow, that’s a big fish!!!!!!!!!
The Samana Peninsula has some great beaches for you to enjoy.
Of the Beaches-in-the-Dominican-Republic, Playa Sosua is renowned for its coral reef and dive sites. It’s only about a 20 minute drive from Puerto Plata.
The waters are calm here so the swimming is fine. You can snorkel off the beach. The best place to snorkel though is out by the reef. A little tip; don’t pay to snorkel at Three Rocks.
There is a drawback to this beach. You will be hounded by hawkers pushing their souvenirs, drinks and water-sport equipment rentals. There are lounge chair and such but you will have to rent them.
Hope you like the Beaches-in-the-Dominican-Republic!!!
Punta Cana accounts for more than 20 mile of the Beaches-in-the-Dominican-Republic. Punta Cana is the busiest of all the vacation areas in the Dominican Republic.
Each resort has its own beach. You can obtain a day pass to any of these resorts if you call ahead. We have been on many of these beaches and one is better than the next.
We have walked the beach during the day and been able to visit up to three other resorts. If you try it and get thirsty you can stop at just about any of the resort to get a drink.
The roads are rough but you can get to some of the non-resort beaches but they may be crowded. Punta-Cana is where to go for an All-inclusive holiday.
