Punta Cana to Santo Domingo Day Trip

Christopher and Diego Columbus

Seeing_some_great_portriats_on_our_day_trip_from_Punta_Cana_to_Santa_Domingo_was_one_of_the_highlights_of_our_trip

On our day trip from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo we were able to take some great photos.

Christopher Columbus and his first born Son Diego. Diego became the forth Viceroy of the Indies. Diego made his home in Santo Domingo, where it still stands.

Christopher Columbus first arrived on the island in western Hispaniola (present day Haiti), on December 5, 1492, and on his second voyage in 1493 to eastern Hispaniola, founded the first Spanish colony (present day Dominican Republic) in the New World on it.

Most folks say that Columbus was born in Genoa, in the year 1451. He became an Italian navigator, colonizer and explorer. Of course his voyages led to European awareness of the Americas. He actually wasn’t the first to get there. A fellow by the name of Leif Ericson got there about 500 years before Columbus did.
